  • Coaches need to be intentional about teaching young players to communicate on the ice.
  • A really easy way to do this is to set up a simple passing drill, where the receiving player must call for the puck, using the passer's name.
  • By emphasizing using the passer's name, you can get your team in a good habit and tilt them away from bad ones – like tapping their stick on the ice, or yelling, "Hey!" Your opponents can do that just as well.
