Coach Nick Giaquinto: OK, the next exercise in our delivery drills is called two points. We'll start with no ball, as Chris demonstrates the move. Chris is lined up, with his shoulder towards the target – just continue doing it Chris – as you can see, getting his elbow towards the target. He starts with the ball in the glove, working on his rhythm with his hand break, arm swing, and follow-through, keeping his head and eye on the target.
He's also making sure that he's flexing at his hip for a good follow-through. Now, let's watch his back foot here – as he pivots and rolls, his laces go down to the ground, and his chest is above his knees; head and eyes are on the target. It's very important that he gets this pivot on his back foot.
OK, now let's put the ball into play here, Chris will be throwing to Pat. When we do this with our pitchers, one guy would do about four or five of these, and then he would catch for the other guy. OK, the second step on this drill is to add the follow-through, and this is a very important part of the drill.
Chris is going to firm up on the front side, and bring his back leg over to follow through. We try to make sure his back foot comes above his butt. So, we're looking for a firm-up on the front side, and a back foot coming up a little above the waist. OK, very good, thank you.
