Coach Bill Thom: All right, in this segment we're going to talk about the overhead pass. This would be used maybe to start a fast break, or against pressure. So what we're going to do is bring the ball up in front of our forehead; it's not a soccer throw, and we're not going to bringing the ball back here, because it will get tipped away or you'll travel with the ball.
So it comes from a Triple Threat up to here – we're going to keep it ahead of the forehead. Ian's going to step, thumbs down, like we've done with the other two passes, and make the pass. So, Shaun's going to step to pass, receiver's got his hands ready, we're going to catch and get into a good Triple Threat. Overhead pass, good. Let's step and pass, good. One more time, let's step and pass, and one more time for Shaun, good.
It's important that I just add this comment – when we're doing passing with youth players, we always want to pass with two hands. It's one thing you really want to drive home with them: let's use two hands for the chest pass, the bounce pass, and the overhead pass.
