Coach Bill Thom: In this drill, we're going to work on some live rebounding. In an earlier segment, we discussed our ball-you-man defensive positioning. So, we're going to use that for the set-up of the drill – we're going to shoot the ball, and our defensive player will then find his man, go take up the neutral space, the slack, and box him out.

So let's have Ian step in, Shaun's going to be our defensive player, defense is covering Wes. So we have a ball, the defensive player, and a man; there's a triangle set on the shot. Shaun is going to go find his man and box out. So let's go, let's try it.

Shot's up, go get him Shaun, go get him, go get him, go get him, good. If he shoots it, it's live until you get it, so if he gets it in, we'll throw it back to Ian. Let's get set, and – shoot. Go get him, Shaun. Shaun, do a little bit better job of getting into Wes; don't let Wes get a head of steam towards the basket. Don't let him get momentum to the basket. Go ahead, shot. Go get into him, good, and stay on balance. Remember when we rebound the ball, chin the ball. All right, let's switch offense to defense.

Ready? Shoot. Wes, hands up, good, chin the ball. And let's, on the rebound, don't wait for the ball, extend up, jump and get it. Another shot, go get Ian, good, nice and high, good rebound. That's perfect. That final rebound was a perfect rebound; Wes went up and got the ball in the air. He brought it down, chinned the ball, and is ready to pivot and outlet the ball. Perfect rebound, so that's our introduction to live rebounding.
