Official Bill Sacco: That’s a lane violation by the offense. An offensive player, whether it be here or on that side, must wait for the ball to hit the rim before they can enter into the lane to try and get the rebound, OK?
As officials, what we then do is, we will blow the whistle immediately if there is a violation by the offensive player. We will not wait until we see whether the ball goes in or it doesn't. A violation in a lane, by the offense, we blow the whistle right away. Again, the offensive player, same as the defense, must wait for the ball to hit the rim.
