Lou Marinelli: The defensive lineman, at New Canaan, we like to use a four-point stance. We'll get into the four-point stance exactly the same way we get into our offensive stance. We're going to put our hands on our knees, going to put our elbows on our knees, then we're going to put both hands down in front, moving the dominant leg to a heel/toe relationship back. His head is up, his back is flat and now he is ready to go right, left or straight ahead, based on the block that he sees. He is balanced, he's comfortable and he's ready to go. The four-point stance not only allows you to go right and left, but it also forces you to stay down, rather than standing up which is very important.
