Lou Marinelli: Now we'd like to talk about the five-step drop by the quarterback. This is a litte bit deeper, the quarterback is going to take five steps, he's going to set up. These are more of your longer patterns downfield and the quarterback will have to take the snap and quickly get back as soon as possible.

Now, we're going to walk through this slowly, and then we're going to go through it full speed. All right, Charlie gets the ball and seats it; 1, 2 crossover; 3, 4 set up; and now he's ready to throw. The patterns would have to be anywhere from 10 to 15 yards. OK, let's see what it looks like and we'll see the follow-through. Quickly, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and throw – nice. Excellent job.

So, again this is for longer patterns, this is the one where even out of a shotgun, if you're going to take a five-step drop, you'd be back five yards, you'd have to take three steps beyond that for deeper patterns downfield.
