Jonathan Bornstein: Giving a player time and space is important also. Sometimes if the ball comes in at an angle to the player and he's facing you, you don't want to get too tight on the player because he'll just turn you and he'll be attacking your goal. In this demonstration, we're going to show you when it is important to give the attacker time and space and basically just jockey him so you force him in the direction you want. Larson is going to receive the ball and I'm going to close him down, but not hard enough to where he can just get by me easily. All right, and from that demonstration you can see that Larson received the ball in space, he was facing me, I closed him down but not too tight because I didn't want him to just run right past me and I forced him in the direction that I wanted him to go.
