PlaySportsTV.com Expands Website for Youth Sports Coaching and Instruction

Empowering coaches, parents and athletes to coach smarter and play better

Princeton, NJ (April 6, 2009) – Doug Donaldson was all set to rely on his playing experiences from an athletic childhood when he agreed to coach his son’s youth basketball team. But when the first day of practice arrived and the group of second-graders looked up to their new coach, he was just as confused as the kids. How was he possibly going to give them the best coaching and instruction?

PlaySportsTV, the website that Donaldson created in 2006 as a result of that experience and which is now the leading on-line youth sports coaching and instructional resource in the United States, has launched a newly redesigned website, making it easier for youth coaches and parents to teach young athletes.

PlaySportsTV’s professionally produced instructional content has received wide recognition for its high quality and was recently named a Great Site for Kids the American Library Association. PlaySportsTV works with coaches and athletes such as Lou Marinelli, Connecticut’s 2008 Coach of the Year in high school football; Mikey Powell, one lacrosse’s greatest players; Jonathon Bornstein from Chivas USA of Major League Soccer; and Sasha Vujacic of the NBA’s LA Lakers. PlaySportsTV doesn’t just work with nationally known coaches and athletes, though. The site works equally hard to identify and partner with successful local youth, high school and college coaches all across the country.

To coincide with the launch of its new website, PlaySportsTV is introducing a variety of web-based training plans for many of its sports. “Our training plans deliver effective tips for new coaches while offering fresh ideas from proven professionals to improve the practice habits of even the most experienced coaches,” says Doug Donaldson, PlaySportsTV’s founder.  “We’re providing training on how to be a good coach along with all the teaching tools necessary to help kids excel and have fun.”

New training plans released by PlaySportsTV include: Coaching Youth Baseball, featuring Princeton Univ. baseball coach Scott Bradley, for T-ball through Little League; Slide Like a Pro, for Little League baseball players; Coaching Girls Softball; three training plans for youth soccer: Coaching Youth Soccer, for kids aged 5 through 8, and How to Play Striker; and Coaching Youth Lacrosse.
