Crossfire Drill

Crossfire Drill:

  • The purpose of this drill is to teach players how to be aggressive shooting the ball while practicing solid shooting technique.
  • Start the drill by assigning each team two diagonal goals to score on. Teams begin play freely, determining by the flow of the game which goal to attack at any particular time.
  • Players should control the ball away from pressure and toward the goal they wish to attack.
  • Teammates should look to provide support to the ball handler.
  • Shooters should remember the 4 "A's" of shooting: 1.) accuracy, 2.) attitude, 3.) aggressiveness, and 4.) awareness.
  • Progressions: Try setting a two- or five-touch limit for each player on a single possession. 
  • Make a rule that the ball must strike the back of the net before hitting the ground for a shot to count as a goal.
